A review meeting on the preparedness for the forthcoming Goa Legislative Assembly Election 2027 was chaired by Ms. Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector & District Election Officer (DEO), South Goa, in the presence of Shri Ramesh Gaonkar, Additional Collector-II, South Goa, and Shri Velton Tellis, Deputy Collector, South-I.
The meeting was attended by the designated Nodal Officers, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) responsible for various election-related activities.
During the meeting, the Collector directed the EROs to conduct dedicated meetings with AEROs and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) regarding the new instructions pertaining to the Special Summary Revision (SSR) and ensure that the information is disseminated through official social media platforms.
The EROs were also directed to visit colleges and schools and coordinate with Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs), particularly in view of the proposed visit of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
The EROs and AEROs were instructed to submit polling station-related data on priority and expedite the disposal of pending Form 6 and Form 8 applications.
The DEO further directed that citizens be provided adequate opportunity to furnish documents other than Aadhaar Card, wherever applicable, for electoral registration and related processes.
The meeting also reviewed the work assigned to various Nodal Officers, including Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs), with directions to constitute additional SSTs wherever required and submit revised SST locations.
The Collector directed that the Section Officers appointed for election-related duties should report and join their assigned responsibilities immediately. Arrangements pertaining to Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) at polling stations were also reviewed.
Further, the SVEEP plan was discussed, with directions to submit the plan at the earliest, organise interactions with media representatives and include dedicated voter-awareness programmes for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).
The meeting also reviewed Transport Management and other election preparedness measures to ensure coordinated planning and timely execution of election-related activities.
The Collector emphasised close coordination among all concerned officers and departments, adherence to the instructions of the Election Commission of India and timely completion of all assigned tasks to facilitate effective planning and ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the Goa Legislative Assembly Election 2027
