Chief Minister directed the Department of New and Renewable Energy (DNRE) to formulate a comprehensive scheme to provide up to 50% subsidy for the purchase of electric vehicles by existing licensed Motorcycle Pilots and Auto Rickshaw operators.
Further CM, directed the Department to formulate a policy for the phased replacement of diesel generator (DG) sets installed in industrial and commercial establishments with cleaner energy alternatives such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar photovoltaic systems integrated with battery storage, gas-based systems wherever feasible, and other sustainable energy technologies. Kadamba’s diesel buses around 10 years older shall be retrofired with CNG Engines. The policy shall include an implementation roadmap, financial incentives, stakeholder consultations and regulatory measures to facilitate a gradual transition towards cleaner energy sources.
Also, DNRE shall setup 70 new electric vehicle charging stations in Goa under the PM EDrive scheme
