Director, Dept of Agriculture, Shri Sandeep Fol Dessai informed media at Krishi Bhavan, Caranzalen, that Goa govt gave around ₹46.89 crore to sugarcane farmers and ₹26.46 crore to 210 factory workers in last 5 years. A new scheme for Krishi Card holders growing sugarcane will now replace the old assistance.
Director further informed that the Agriculture Department has initiated a chemical-free fruit ripening chamber at the Mapusa yard to provide safer produce, following the FDA raids.
