A meeting on Monsoon Preparedness in Kushavati District was chaired by Ms. Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector & Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority,Kushavati District, in the presence of the Additional Collector-II and Deputy Collector, Kushavati-I.

All line department officers attended the meeting.

Directions were issued to the SDMs to ensure that dangerous trees are to be identified and trim prior to the onset of the monsoon. The concerned SDMs were also directed to dispose of cases under the Trees Act in a timely manner.

Further, SDMs were instructed to conduct joint inspections along with line departments, including PWD and WRD, to ensure proper cleaning of drainages and gutters.

It was also directed that whenever any activity is undertaken, the concerned Talathi should be immediately informed to facilitate effective monitoring of progress.

The Health Department was directed to arrange sufficient ambulances and make necessary emergency arrangements, including preparedness at Primary Health Centres (PHCs). SDMs were further instructed to convene meetings of the Vector-Borne Disease Committees.

Additionally, SDMs were directed to coordinate with BDOs and Chief Officers of Municipalities regarding the identification and necessary action on dilapidated structures. They were also instructed to identify suitable locations for the installation of adequate signage at water bodies and to deploy Talathis within their jurisdictions to map flood-prone areas and vulnerable structures.

Further, SDMs were directed to convene taluka-level meetings with all line departments to ensure coordinated preparedness.

All departments were instructed to identify nallas and drainage systems and complete inspections within the current month.

The Collector informed that weekly review meetings will be conducted to monitor progress and ensure timely completion of pending works.

All line departments were further directed to undertake pre-monsoon works and ensure completion by 10th May.
