Mumbai, India – December 14, 2025
Global football icon Lionel Messi made a highly anticipated appearance at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium today as part of the “GOAT India Tour.” The event, which was a sold-out, ticketed affair, brought thousands of fans to the legendary cricket ground to catch a glimpse of the superstar.
The Argentine World Cup winner’s itinerary included interactive sessions with local, aspiring young footballers. Highlights included a penalty shootout demonstration and a lively “rondo” (keep-away) drill on the pitch.
The stadium was abuzz with excitement as cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and former Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri were present to welcome Messi to the city.
Security was extremely tight, with Mumbai Police implementing stringent, World Cup-level arrangements to manage the massive crowds converging on the venue. The event was exclusively for ticket holders, with no free public access to the main stadium event. Earlier in the day, Messi also attended a Padel tournament at the nearby Cricket Club of India (CCI).
The “GOAT India Tour” successfully brought one of the world’s most famous athletes to India’s sporting capital for a memorable evening of football celebration.
