The District Coordination Committee meeting for Vector-Borne Disease Control and the District Task Force meeting for Malaria elimination was chaired by Shri Ramesh Gaonkar, Additional Collector II, South Goa, H/C Kushavati Districts, co-chaired by Dr.Bapstisto Mascarenhas, Member Secretary of Health Officer UHC, Margao

The BDOs were instructed to activate all local committees, hold regular meetings, involve sanitary inspectors from health facilities and prepare a list of functional and non-functional GIDC units to ensure paramedics are available in each IDC unit for better coordination with health facilities.

On sanitation, Health Officers will report non-compliance by local bodies to the BDOs and local bodies will provide labour support during source reduction drives. It was noted that South Goa is moving towards malaria elimination, having recorded zero indigenous cases over the past three years. The meeting highlighted the need for coordinated action in high-risk areas such as construction sites, industrial units and fishing jetties with support from the Labour Department.

Officials from the Departments of Fisheries, Dy. Labour Commissioner, PWD, GIDC, PHC, DDPS, AYUSH along with Deputy Collectors and Mamlatdars of South Goa and Kushavati Districts, attended the meeting.
